Helsinki metropolitan area Service Map APIs

The Service Map is an open information channel on the service points and services offered by the cities of Helsinki, Espoo, Vantaa and Kauniainen. The Service Map helps the inhabitants of the municipality find current information on services offered by the city, as well as on the accessibility of the services. The Service Map also shows the route to the service using the information provided by the journey planner interface.

The Service Map APIs provide data on the service points and services on the map. This includes the data of Helsinki, Espoo, Vantaa and Kauniainen, as well as the services of HSY and some of the services of HUS.

The data is available in REST/JSON, WFS and XML format.

In addition, data can be downloaded via the WFS spatial API of the Service Map in KML and JSON formats (see tool icon in the lower right corner). The WFS API can be read with geographic information systems.

The APIs can be used to query about, for example, the following:

• Organisations that arrange and produce services
• Limit data by municipality (area)
• Locations where services are provided (e.g. Rikhardinkatu library)
• Services provided at different locations
• Service classification
• Accessibility parameters
• Accessibility information of the location structurally
• Accessible public transport route to accessible location
• All services in the area or at a certain distance from an feature, e.g. a train station

The data is available for download in several formats, including JSON, KML, GIF, Tiff, GeoTiff, JPEG, PNG, CSV, Esri Shape. Available formats can always be found under OutputFormat in the GetCapabilities query for the service.

The Toimipisterekisteri_yksiköt layer includes the services provided at the service point (both numerical identifiers and verbal descriptions).
