Orthophotos of the Helsinki metropolitan area

The orthophotos were taken at 20 or 25 cm/pix terrain resolution in the summertime, and the regional coverage of the materials varies slightly from year to year. Orthophotos are available in both RGB and color infrared (CIR). For 2021, both ortophoto mosaics are offered at the interface. For earlier years, currently open data is offered via interface only as a color orthophotograph mosaic (RGB image). When necessary, you can inquire about false-colour photos at avoindata@hsy.fi. The data is in the ETRS-GK25 coordinate system. The data have been implemented as a joint procurement and the party responsible for the procurement was the Helsinki Region Environmental Services Authority (HSY) municipal federation.

Regional coverage:

• 2021 (GSD 25 cm): Helsinki, Espoo, Vantaa, Kauniainen, Kirkkonummi, Kerava and Järvenpää
• 2019 (GSD 20 cm): Helsinki, Espoo, Vantaa, Kauniainen, Kirkkonummi and Kerava
• 2017 (GSD 20 cm): Helsinki, Espoo, Vantaa, Kauniainen, Kirkkonummi, Kerava and Nurmijärvi
• 2015 (GSD 20 cm): Helsinki, Espoo, Vantaa, Kauniainen, Kirkkonummi, Kerava and Sipoo

The copyright notice must indicate all the parties involved in the procurement and the year of the material. E.g. Orthophoto (c) Municipalities in the region, HSY, HSL and the Finnish Defence Forces 2021.

The orthophoto can be viewed in HSY’s open map service. The material can be accessed via HSY’s interfaces.
