3D city model of the City of Helsinki

The 3D city model of the City of Helsinki dataset combines a 3D surface model depicting the ground surface, orthophotographs depicting the city and Helsinki’s 3D buildings (precision level LOD1). The dataset covers the entire area of the City of Helsinki.

The coordinate reference system of the dataset is ETRS-GK25 (EPSG:3879) and the vertical coordinate reference system N2000. The level of detail of the building data is LOD1. The 3D building model of the LOD1 precision level presents buildings as a simple cubic model dataset.

The maintenance and the location data of the dataset are based on the location data of the base map (nominal scale 1:500). The initial data for the maintenance of 3D building dataset are field measurements and laser scans carried out by the city.

The dataset can be downloaded from the Helsinki Map Service in GDP and KMZ formats. The dataset can be utilised, for example, with the free Sketchup modelling program.
