The prioritised winter maintenance network for pedestrians and cyclists in Helsinki includes routes where sweeping and salting and intensified maintenance are used in winter 2016–2017. The data assists in the route planning of winter cycling and illustrates the routes where sweeping and salting and intensified maintenance are used.

The initial data for the digitisation includes the base map, detailed plan maps, cadastral map, guide map, street level classification (Transport Planning Unit of the City Planning Department), outdoor and cycling map (Sports Department) and the register of public areas YLRE (Public Works Department). The data has been created on the basis of the base map, City of Helsinki Roadmap and visits to the location.

The dataset is maintained by the City of Helsinki Urban Environment Division/Buildings and common areas/Maintenance/Operational services. The routes are linear vector features in the geographic database. The coordinate system of the dataset is ETRS-GK25 (EPSG: 3879). The dataset will be maintained at least once a year at least until 2019.
