Safe heights for buildings and highest significant wave heights in Helsinki

Datasets produced by the Finnish Meteorological Institute on the safe construction height and the maximum estimated significant wave height in the Helsinki area.

The data is available for download in several formats, including JSON, KML, GIF, Tiff, GeoTiff, JPEG, PNG, CSV, Esri Shape. Available formats can always be found under OutputFormat in the GetCapabilities query for the service.

Coordinate systems:

  • Maintained in ETRS-GK25 (EPSG:3879), can be projected to other coordinate systems. See GetCapabilities query for other possible coordinate systems.

Attributes of the FMI_Suurin_arvioitu_merkitseva_aallonkorkeus_piste layer

  • tietopalvelu_id (int). Unique identifier of the feature.
  • merkitseva_aallonkorkeus (decimal). Value of the significant wave height (m).
  • mittauspiste (boolean). Indication whether the value is a measurement point (true) or a value generalised elsewhere (false).
  • datanomistaja (string). Data owner.
  • paivitetty_tietopalveluun (date). Information service record date (yyyy-mm-dd).
  • geom (GeometryPropertyType). Geometry of the feature.

Attributes of the FMI_Turvalliset_rakentamiskorkeudet_piste layer:

  • tietopalvelu_id (int). Unique identifier of the feature.
  • arvio_vuodelle_2020 (decimal). Estimate of the combined value of the waves and the water level in the N2000 altitude system for the year 2020 (m).
  • arvio_vuodelle_2050 (decimal). Estimate of the combined value of the waves and the water level in the N2000 altitude system for the year 2050 (m).
  • arvio_vuodelle_2100 (decimal). Estimate of the combined value of the waves and the water level in the N2000 altitude system for the year 2100 (m).
  • mittauspiste (boolean). Indication whether the value is a measurement point (true) or a value generalised elsewhere (false).
