Responses to the City of Vantaa’s residential surveys for 2018 and 2020. The Vantaa residential surveys examined Vantaa residents’ satisfaction with housing, residential areas, accessibility of services and mobility. Resident satisfaction has been examined twice, in 2018 and 2020, using residential surveys.

The surveys consisted of seven parts: background information on the household, housing and residential comfort, housing values and attractiveness factors, services, mobility, recreation and outdoor activities, and moving decisions and housing wishes. In addition, residents’ views on participation and influencing opportunities were also examined in the 2018 residential survey.

The aim of the residential surveys is to maintain comparability over time, but if necessary, the survey can be updated to meet the city’s information needs. Nine new questions were added to the 2020 residential survey, and four questions were updated to have different answer options from those in the 2018 residential survey. In addition, the participation section was omitted as unnecessary, as Vantaa’s Urban Culture Department conducted a separate participation survey in 2020 focusing on opportunities for participation and influence.

For reasons of data protection, some background information of the respondents has been removed from the dataset. In addition, the response categories for the background information have been combined. The key to the variables can be found on the third tab of the Excel file. Open responses have been placed separately on the second tab in a mixed order by major district, and blank rows have been deleted. In addition, some open responses have been edited or deleted due to privacy or inappropriate language. Items that have been edited or deleted have been marked in the dataset.
