General guide map of the City of Helsinki

The general map of the City of Helsinki is a generalised map of the Helsinki area, produced to assist in positioning and guidance. The maps can also be used as index maps in various map services and as background maps for various map presentations.

The general map is produced from the guide map data maintained by the Helsinki Urban Environment Division’s City Survey Services by strongly generalising and reducing the details. The general map is produced in both coloured and grayscale versions. The general map is available as two versions: with or without labels (harmaa_pohja layers). The pixel resolutions are 8 metres, 16 metres and 32 metres. The data is available both through the API service and as TIFF files.

The general map of the City of Helsinki covers the entire area of the City of Helsinki, including the sea. The data is constantly updated. An open data publication is carried out once a year.
