3D-buildings of the City of Helsinki

The 3D buildings of Helsinki (LOD1) dataset includes buildings located in Helsinki as a three-dimensional model (3D). The level of detail of the dataset is LOD1. There are four LOD levels, LOD1 being the simplest, “box model”-type modelling level.

The starting data for the maintenance of the 3D buildings of Helsinki data is the base map and altitude data in different formats (laser point data, terrain measurements, contour lines, etc.). The dataset covers the entire area of the city. The dataset does not contain building attributes.

The scale of the dataset is 1:500.

Coordinates and altitude system;

1. KMZ: WGS 84 (WGS 1984, EPSG:4326) and Global Geoid Model EGM96 (Earth Gravity Model 1996)
2. SKP: ETRS-GK25 (EPSG:3879) and N2000 Height System.

The dataset is maintained in the vector format in the Bentley MicroStation DGN file format. For the open data publication, the data has been converted to GoogleKML (KMZ) and Sketchup (GDP) formats, so that they can be utilised, for example, with Google Earth and Sketchup freeware.
